Dear Friend,

As you may or may not be aware, in January 2002 my wife Lori lost her brother Tom to suicide. This occurred a little over a week after his 33rd birthday and was a complete and utter surprise and shock to all his family and friends. Like the vast majority of relatives and friends that are left behind following the suicide of someone close, a feeling of great loss and bewilderment are all that remain.

On August 12th/13th I will be joining my wife, along with hundreds of others, to walk 20 miles through the night in the Out of the Darkness Overnight to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With more than 30,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and over one million worldwide, the importance of AFSP' s mission has never been greater, nor our work more urgent.

I will be walking as a member of Team Tom and my personal fundraising goal is $1,500.00. I would appreciate any support that you give me for this worthwhile cause.
