Suicide. It's been another year, and still people are dying. Every 16 minutes, someone is dying. The number that have touched me personally this year is in double digits. How can this be? How can, in our so-called"enlightened" society, there still be such a stigma attached to mental ILLNESS? Illness. You know, like cancer, or a tumor, or pneumonia. ILLNESS. How can, in our "enlightened" society, someone end their own life every 16 minutes, because the pain to stay is greater than the pain to go? Why can I, in our "enlightened" society, get a massage for my aching back every week, courtesy of my insurance company, but my aching BRAIN has a limit on the number of times I can see a therapist.. courtesy of my insurance company? |
