Welcome to the Personal Fundraising Page of Yvette Nameth
I'm back on Team Susan's Stars to walk in Boston for another crazy adventure (and this time I'll try not to make myself sick by over-hydrating!)
For a bit of background: On November 3, 2008, my cousin, Dustin Pegar, committed suicide. On January 26, 2009, my close friend since college and one of my soul-sisters, Susan Tucker (Bowen), committed suicide.
The Out of the Darkness Overnight Experience is an 18-mile walk over the course of one night. Net proceeds benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, funding research, education, and awareness programs – both to prevent suicide and to assist those affected by suicide.
I walk in their memory. I walk for myself - to make myself remember and do something positive with the energy; to make myself healthier. I walk because I want to get people talking to me, and/or their friends/family about depression and suicide and how it impacts so many people. I walk for their families who are in NH and CA. I walk for their friends who can't take the time off work to do it themselves. I walk cause I'm slightly nutty. I walk to spend a night with great friends from across the country who I don't get to see often enough.
Please support me as I take an amazing journey with my team, Susan's Stars, and all the other amazing walkers out in the Boston night.
To follow my progress either watch me on Twitter or read my blog.
Note that monetary donations are nice for the AFSP, but what I really personally appreciate is the support in doing this walk! So if this isn't a fiscally good year for you to donate or you have any reason whatsoever not to donate, just send me a cheerleader email instead!!!!! I get the most out of the messages you guys send along.
