Please support me as I walk in the Out of the Darkness Overnight, a 20-mile walk through the streets of Boston over the course of one night. Net proceeds benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, funding research, education, and awareness programs – both to prevent suicide and to assist those affected by suicide. Walking through the night is a metaphor for ending the stigma associated with suicide and mental illnesses--that is, bringing these issues out of the dark into the light so people will not be embarrassed to ask for help, thereby saving lives. It is also a metaphor for the healing that participating in the Walk may bring to those left behind by suicide. |
