The Overnight2011 Walk

The Overnight is an experience like no other. Once a year, thousands join together to walk through the night to fight suicide.

The connections you make last a lifetime, and the funds you raise will save lives.

You’ll feel safe and cared for in a community where everyone supports each other. It's a place to laugh, to cry, and to heal — to honor the past and embrace the future that you will help change for the better.

Who Participates?n_2.jpg

The Overnight draws thousands of people from all walks of life, ages 14 and up, including many who have lost a loved one to suicide.

Walkers can participate as individuals, families, or teams — in truth, no one walks alone and many form lasting bonds with the people they meet.

How We Make a Differencen_3.jpg

Each Walker agrees to raising $1,000 for AFSP. Student and Military Walkers have a fundraising minimum of $700.

These funds go to research for suicide prevention, educational programs, advocacy, and support for survivors of suicide loss.

Important Facts About the Event

n_3.jpgYou are never alone throughout your Overnight journey. From the moment you register, you will have a Walker Coach to help you fundraise and answer any questions you have along the way.

The Overnight is 16-18 miles long and goes from dusk until dawn. There are plenty of Rest Stops and Quick Stops along the route with drinks and snacks, and a larger Midnight Snack is provided at the halfway mark, boxed lunch style. There’s also a hot breakfast included after the Closing Ceremony.

Approximately 2-4 weeks prior to the event, all registered participants will receive the Guide to the Overnight with the exact times of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the event to help you make your plans.
