By joining the AFSP New Jersey Team for The Overnight in Boston on June 22nd, you are ensuring that 25% of Funds raised as a team will remain in NJ for research and funding.
Our team is open to any individuals or groups that want to join!
Each person that is a member of this team has their own reasons for walking. Some have loved ones that died by suicide or as a result of their mental illness. Others have loved ones that have struggled with mental illness or suicidal ideation. Some team members struggled personally and others on our team are there to support the cause. Regardless of the reason, we all support each other and all support the cause of suicide prevention.
Every year suicide claims more lives than war, murder, and natural disasters combined, and yet suicide prevention doesn't get anywhere near the funding given to other leading causes of death. It's up to walkers like us to make a difference. Together we can change the conversation about mental health and put a stop to this tragic loss of life. The AFSP's goal is to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.
The 16-18 mile journey through the night is a truly inspirational event where courageous men and women come together as a community and walk together to break the silence of suicide.
We walk together to help bring people out of the darkness!
