Pictured above is Tommy visiting Notre Dame in October of 2006, less than a month before he tragically died by suicide at age 17.  He stands in front of O'Neill Family Hall, my Notre Dame home, where I had the great fortune of meeting Tommy's brother Danny and their parents Dan and RoseMary.  

This will be my 12th year walking as a member of the Tommy Fuss Team.  The generous donors to the Tommy Fuss Team over the years have enabled the AFSP to accomplish a tremendous amount of progress.  However, there is a lot of work ahead of us in continuing to destigmatize mental illness, research its underlying causes and develop appropriate treatments.  So we continue walking with hope!
